High school Chemistry classes were shown this by experiments in which a fish tank filled with CO2 was poured into the air above a fish tank in which candles were burning. The CO2, being heavier than air, filled the fish tank below and extinguished the candles. Less than 0.04%, or 40 parts per million parts of air, is CO2. The CO2 to air ratio is believed to increase and decrease in cycles covering hundreds of thousands of years. Since CO2 is heavier than air, it would be continuously dropping ouf of the air mixture by virtue of its weight. As CO2 drops to the Earth's surface, it is consumed, along with CO2 in surface air, by trees, plants and grasses by photosynthesis in which the carbon atoms are comsumed and the oxygen atoms are released. Of course, the oxygen atoms released into the air are consumed by animals, humans included. What a beautiful scheme. Apparently the scheme is beyond the comprehension levels of politically motivated environmentalits.
