LYCEUM Gaudeamus to participate in Global Debates on Climate Change

Event is one of hundreds taking place at high schools worldwide

Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, 18 march 2009 Lyceum Gaudeamus is hosting a debate as part of The People Speak (TPS) Global Debates, which challenges high school students from around the world to think critically about the world’s most pressing issues. This fall students will debate their climate change action plans, and in the spring they will contest whether developed nations have a greater obligation to combat climate change.

Lyceum Gaudeamus will host the public debate on 18 march 2009, at 12.00 at Debate Club Gaudeamus. Two teams of two students each will argue both for their own climate change action plans and against their opponents. The debate will be held in front of 85 students. All debates will be videotaped and submitted to the United Nations Foundation. In the public debate will di discussed issues related to climate change, which will participate: Advisor Pretura Ciocana, Chisinau – Mr Peter Turea, Contributor to Education Department – Ms. Iraide Zagnat and member Ecological Party “Green Alliance” – Ms. Aliona Sarev

Gaudeamus High School students are motivated to participate in public debates on global climate change. The event is one of hundreds taking place at high schools around the world and also in the Republic of Moldova, Chisinau. Sure participate in debate as part Debate Club "Gaudeamus". We invite everyone interested to participate in a public debate with the theme: "Developed countries have a greater obligation to combat climate change."

The Earth heats up by the increasing thickness of the atmosphere. some parts thicker than others, as it hits the ice it bounces off most of the heat, but if it heats the water more than 80% is absorbed so if less ice is covering the top the more the rest of the ice will melt. the sorrounding seas would increase in heat and size. something has to be done soon they cant really put it off much more

It is the solar activity curve that is closely followed by by the rate of warming curve. I do not believe Gore knows the difference between science and policy.

Jeff, I dont normally take the time to respond but felt it was important to answer your question. Reason Ice is melting is the ocean currents change. This is recorded but never brought up because everyone wants to hear its global warming to sell a program for the government. Its starting to get to a point of crazyness. In Britain or EU in general they are about to ban Big screen plasma screens. They as well as USA have baned the LIGHT BULB!!!!!! I not against environmental movement as Ive been in it for years now. BUT Im going after REAL issues such as mercury, chemicals in the water supply, Flouride in water supplies. Pollution in waterways and air. Lets tackle the real issues. Everyone is being diverted from the real issues to the fake CO2 (Basis of ALL LIFE ON EARTH!!!)Its all about control and money. If the governments of the world can regulate and charge for the amount of carbon you produce such as breathing, you are no longer a FREE MAN. PLEASE people think about this stuff.

Actually it has Gone up overall global temperature in the last 7 yrs. Winters are warmer than ever before, and summers are increasing in temperature. Sea level rise is starting to increase, and if there wasn't global warming, why is the ice still melting?

CO2 is not an initiator of AGW. Studies of past climates show a lag of of as much as hundreds of years before CO2 catches up with the rate of warming. It is the solar activity curve that is closely followed by by the rate of warming curve. I do not believe Gore knows the difference between science and policy. He's too arrogant and stupid to realize policy that is not supported by sciene is worthless. Gore however is just smart enough to realize that Bjorn

Lomborg would blow him away in a debate and so would Lord Monckton of Brenchley.

Al Gore's reported response to a recent climate debate challenge by Bjorn Lomborg included the comment, in part, that "its not a matter of theory or conjecture". So Gore says it is not a matter of science nor is it a matter for thoughtful debate . What is left then? It must be the dogma according to Gore

Al Gore is a major fraud and it's unbelievable too me that there is anyone left that believes his rhetoric. As far as Obama and emissions targets go, well this guy wants to be a two term president more then anything and if the economy doesn't turn around then it's one and out for him. If he proceeds with the proposed cuts it could put the final nail in the economies coffin, I don't think he's willing to take that chance.
