Dr. Monnett was wrote a peer-reviewed article that clearly stated what he and others observed and how those observations were made. As such, it was the beginning of a possible research effort. Real research takes time. In fact, for anyone with a college degree and a minimal understanding of math, statistics, or science, the transcripts are downright hilarious - almost as though they were written as a vaudeville act where the clueless criminal investigators mimic, say, the cluelessness of film-dom's Pink Panther.
