It appears Obama is in the pay of the Environmentalists, a wrong headed group if ever there was one. Their demonization of CO2 and other greenhouse gases may turn out to be man's greatest blunder of all time. We are not out of the threat of another continental glaciation with world temperatures below what was normal for the Mesozoic (dinosaurs) and its great expansion of life on land. 50 million years ago plate tectonics altered circulation of tropical waters. Antaartica iced up 32 million years ago. The Arctic ocean followed 14 million years ago. During the reign of the dinosaurs the Arctic ocean was as warm as 22 deg C. Today it is zero deg C. Today our tropics are only 4 deg C warmer than they were at the last glacial maximum 23 thousand years ago. The only thing protecting us from Pleistocene continental glaciation No. 6 is a healthy Greenhouse Gas (GHG) without which our weak Sun could not prevent ice to the equator. These grim facts were gleaned from climate textbooks. The only support for AGW (man caused global warming) is a relatively few climate scientists who stood to profit greatly from research grants in the vain hope of finding empirical evidence for the shoddy hypothesis. I hate to have to keep hammering on this issue but the politicos and enviros have erected a status of political correctness on this policy that is deadly to our economy and ultimately to humanity as well.
