If our present moderate warm spell endangers polar bears, how did they survive the Holocene maximum of 8000 years ago? Or, the mideval warm period of only 1000 years ago when the Vikings established a colony on Greenland and wine grapes grew in the British Isles? Or, is this just another case of environmentalism run amock? I am virtually certain of the latter case as these excitable types, ignorant of the natural world, have done several times in the past.
